EPS Recall Assist Tool – Honda & Acura (Digital Download Files)

These files were designed to assist with service procedures related to the Honda & Acura EPS recall. The tool helps remove and reinstall the bolt located in the extremely limited clearance space around the steering rack.

The tool features large thumb wheels with aggressive teeth for improved grip when loosening or threading the bolt in and out.

Two wheel sizes are included:

• Small gear wheel used to initially start threading the bolt back in

• Large red thumb wheel used to finish tightening once resistance is encountered

The tool also includes a built-in screwdriver feature. If preferred, a long #2 Phillips screwdriver can be used instead.

Because this tool must fit within extremely tight clearance areas, the components are designed with a thin profile. Care must be taken during use to avoid excessive force.

Recommended usage:

• Start threading the bolt using the spinner tool or small gear wheel

• If using a metal screwdriver, use light pressure only to avoid damaging the plastic gear teeth

• Once resistance is felt, switch to the red thumb wheel to complete the installation

When used properly and aligned correctly, the tool performs reliably.

Magnets Required

Magnets required are 5 mm × 2.8 mm and are commonly available on Amazon (see link below).

Magnets are press-fit, but applying a small amount of glue is recommended for additional retention.

Assembly Instructions

1. Print all components.

2. Press magnets into their designated pockets.

3. Insert the Allen key shaft through the main tool body and into the small gear wheel.

4. The Allen shaft and gear wheel are press-fit components and do not require glue.

Recommended Print Settings

• Layer height: 0.12 mm or finer

• Walls: 4

• Infill: 40%

• Print using rigid materials such as PLA, PETG, ASA, Nylon, etc.

• Do not print using flexible materials such as TPU

Because the gears rotate on the tool body, your printer tolerances must be well calibrated to ensure smooth operation.
