EPS Recall Assist Tool – Honda (Digital Download Files)
These files were designed to assist with the newer Honda EPS recall service procedure. The tool helps with removing and reinstalling the bolt in the extremely limited clearance space around the steering rack.
The design consists of two tools:

Large Thumb Wheel Tool – Features aggressive teeth for improved grip when loosening and threading the bolt in or out.

Handle with Small Thumb Wheel – Designed to help position and start the bolt during reinstallation while keeping one hand clear of the tight working area.
The handle tool holds the bolt in position while the smaller thumb wheel is used to begin threading it back in. A flat-head screwdriver can also be used to assist in starting the threads if necessary.
To fit within the limited clearance around the rack, these tools are designed with a thin profile. Because of this, care must be taken during use. When used correctly and aligned properly, the tools perform reliably.
This design has been used on approximately 85 EPS recall repairs during development and testing.

Magnets Required
Magnets required are 5mm × 2.8mm and are commonly available on Amazon.
Magnets are press-fit, but a small amount of glue is recommended to help secure them.
Assembly Instructions

Print all components.

Press magnets into their respective pockets.

Insert the Allen key piece through the handle and into the smaller thumb wheel.

These two components are press-fit together and do not require glue.
You can adjust the drag on the thumb wheel by pressing the parts together tighter or leaving them slightly looser.
Recommended Print Settings

Layer height: 0.12 mm

Walls: 4

Infill: 50%

Print using rigid materials such as PLA, PETG, ASA, Nylon, etc.

Do not print using flexible materials such as TPU
Because the wheel rotates on the handle, ensure your printer settings and tolerances are well calibrated to achieve proper fit and rotation.
